In contrast to the very popular Shincha (freshly-harvested tea), Nomigoro belongs to the Kuradashi Cha (out-of-the-storehouse tea) category. As with good wine, it takes many years to mature its distinct flavor. Tea expert, Yamashita Toshikazu, keeps this Gyokuro in a cold storehouse for about 5 years to produce an especially potent sweetness and mellow flavour. The thick leaves create an emerald-coloured beverage with a soft, palatable texture. The supreme quality of the tea leaves allow for their pleasant flavour to be maintained even up to 4-5 servings.
